Facial hair! Accents! A 1.19:1 viewpoint proportion! A substantial portion of “What the heck am I seeing?” It’s everything here in the principal trailer for The Lighthouse, the most recent story of dread from Robert Eggers, executive of The Witch. In this highly contrasting bad dream, Robert Pattinson and Willem Dafoe play bygone beacon guardians on a remote island. Things go downhill before long. Watch the mind boggling, dreadful and unimaginably unpleasant The Lighthouse trailer underneath.
The Lighthouse is portrayed as a “trancelike and dreamlike story of two beacon guardians on a remote and puzzling New England island during the 1890s.” I was an immense devotee of Eggers’ The Witch, so I’m in with no reservations on this. While it recounts to a recorded awfulness story like The Witch, The Lighthouse looks a great deal changed – stranger, more out of control. I can hardly wait.
The Lighthouse appeared to rave audits at the Cannes Film Festival and will head TIFF one month from now. It opens in New York and LA on October 18, 2019, with a development to pursue.
